'Valentine's Crush' features bright red, 7" flowers and large, ovate shape leaves with a dark bronze cast in full sun. Upright, columnar habit is very sturdy reaching a height of 5' and width of 3.5'. Plant in full sun to part sun, Hibiscus will need at least 4-6 hours of full sun to produce the most blooms.

Plant in moist, well-drained soil. Keep Hibiscus well watered for larger flowers and lush foliage. Deadheading will improve the appearance of the plant, but is not necessary for continued bloom. It is best to plant Hibiscus in the garden before the heat of the summer arrives, and should be heavily mulched the first winter. In spring, cut back any remaining stems before new growth appears, do not trim back in fall. Use a strong pair of loppers or a saw to cut this plant back.  Hibiscus is always one of the last perennials to emerge in spring, so be patient!  Be aware - Japanese beetles find these plants delicious.

Hardy to zones 4-9.
