Senecio radicans displays cascading vines of succulent, banana-shaped leaves year round and tiny lavender, yellow or white blooms during fall and winter. String of banana is also known as necklace plant, string of fishhooks, creeping berry, banana vine or string of pearls. String of bananas is a fast-growing plant with vines that can reach lengths of at least 36 inches long. The leaves are somewhat transparent, which allows light to shine through and the small flowers have a pleasant, cinnamon-like scent. These plants are drought tolerant so give them water when the soil feels dry to the touch, but don’t allow it to remain bone dry. Less water is needed during winter months. No fertilizer is needed but if growth seems to be fading a diluted solution of water/fertilizer is best. Bright, indirect light is best:)
