Wild Bergamot | Monarda fistulosa | Native Plant

Wild Bergamot is a beautiful MN native perennial that brings long-lasting lavender-pink, fragrant flowers and pollinator activity to the summer garden. Flowers appear mid-July attracting bees, hummingbirds, butterflies and many beneficial pollinators.  The foliage is aromatic releasing a pleasant minty fragrance when touched in the landscape.  

Plant in full sun to partial shade. Growing 2-4' tall & wide.  A hardy perennial to zone 3, Wild Bergamot is adaptable to a variety of soil types, including clay and dry soils once established.  Excellent choice for prairie plantings, pollinator gardens, cottage gardens, rain gardens, and native landscapes.

You can remove spent flower heads to encourage a tidy growth habit or leave the seed heads standing for winter interest and food for birds.
