Broccoli sprouts contain higher levels of the cancer-fighting, phytochemical sulforaphane glucosinaolate than mature heads of broccoli, while also contributing vitamins A, C, and E, calcium, and fiber to the diet. Extremely versatile in the kitchen, tangy broccoli sprouts will perk up almost any dish-fresh or cooked. Sprouting is as easy as 1-2-3! Simply soak your seeds in water for 8 to 12 hours, place them in your sprouting container, in a warm area (70 degrees), and rinse at least twice daily for 6 to 9 days until sprouts have small green leaves. See inside the packet for more information about growing sprouts. Sprout Seed Safety: A sample from each feedlot we receive is sent to an independent laboratory where it must test negative for food borne pathogens including Escherichia coli (E. coli), Salmonella, Listeria, and Staphylococcus aureus (Staph). Although disinfecting sprouts is not necessary, if you choose to do so, visit our Learn & Grow article on www.botanicalinterests.com for suggested disinfection methods.
