The Zygocactus, also known as the Holiday or Christmas Cactus, is available in 4" or 6" sizes and features stunning seasonal blooms in a variety of colors. Easy to care for, it thrives in bright, indirect light (avoid extended exposure to direct sun) with moderate watering. Zygocactus prefers a light, well-draining soil; water thoroughly when to top 1 inch of soil feels dry but never let it sit in soggy soil. Especially during the dry winter months, your Holiday Cactus will appreciate a little extra humidity from either grouping it near other plants, a pebble tray or a small humidifier nearby. Cooler evening temperatures in early fall (around 50-55F for a few weeks) will help trigger gorgeous blooms right around Thanksgiving. Fertilize with a balanced fertilizer, like 10-10-10, March through August. Once buds appear, try to not move the plant or drastically change its lighting - they can get cranky. Generally considered non-toxic to pets although ingesting a large amount may cause gastrointestinal issues. Zygocactus make a thoughtful gift or a festive addition to any space.
