Vanilla Orchid is an exotic, tropical orchid thriving in warm, humid locations with bright, indirect light. This variegated cultivar will produce real vanilla beans indoors when hand pollinated! Bright location, avoid direct, intense sun - try an east or south facing window with a sheer curtain. Vanilla Orchid prefers temperatures between 60-85℉ with high humidity. Avoid placing near cold drafts and use a humidifier or pebble tray to increase the humidity around Vanilla Orchid for optimal growth. Water when the top 1-2" of soil are dry to the touch. Keep the soil evenly moist with good drainage to prevent root rot. Reduce watering in the winter months. Repot every 2-3 years with a well draining orchid mix of bark, perlite and coco coir. Fertilize Vanilla Orchid once per month with a blooming orchid fertilizer diluted to half strength during the growing season and not at all in the winter months. Be sure to use a trellis or moss pole as Vanilla Orchid can be a vigorous grower with ideal conditions. Vanilla Orchid flowers will appear on 3-5 year old plants and bloom for one day but are totally worth the wait! Pet Friendly Houseplant
