We love Saxifraga stolonifera or Strawberry Begonia for its sweet strawberry-like, ruffled leaves, long red stems and clusters of baby plants hanging down from a macrame planter or hanging basket. Strawberry Begonia can be long lived and is considered an easy and a great beginner houseplant. Provide indirect, bright light - careful not to set in direct light or provide a sheer curtain in south facing windows. An east or north facing window is ideal. Keep the soil evenly moist but well drained - water when the top 1" of soil is dry. Do not let the pot sit in standing water and drain any excess out of the saucer to avoid root rot. Strawberry Begonia likes cooler temperatures 50-70℉ is ideal. Average room humidity is great! Use an organic, well-draining potting mix when repotting every 3-4 years. Fertilize once per month in spring and summer with an all purpose organic liquid fertilizer. Long clusters of small purplish-white flowers appear on more mature plants and can last a couple weeks.
