A wonderful variety of easy houseplants that stay small and offer many different characteristics. Compact and often tiny leaves, some are corrugated, smooth or hairy, green, variegated or striped like a watermelon. Some will have flower-heads resembling 'rat-tails' of green spikes. Their natural habit is either the tree trunk or mossy floor of the tropical rain-forests in America. Use a peat-based compost rather than potting soil. Leaves will fall if allowed to dry and wilt but be careful not to overwater. Growing conditions: A bright or semi-shady spot. Keep out of direct sunlight and will grow very well under fluorescent lights. Water with care and let the compost dry out between waterings but do not let the leaves wilt. Use tepid water and very sparingly in the winter. Mist leaves occasionally & only in the summer. Avoid frequent repotting and only after several years transplant in the spring. Sold in growers pot only. New containers offered separately and repotting is available upon request.
