The fiddle-leaf fig is a popular indoor specimen featuring very large, heavily veined, violin-shaped leaves that grow upright. Fiddle-leaf figs are perfect as focal points if you can situate them in a floor-standing container where the plant is allowed to grow to at least 6 feet. Be sure to turn your plant every watering to promote even growth and dust the leaves with a damp cloth to keep them clean. This will help them soak up all the photosynthesis and give them added moisture. Fiddle-leaf figs require bright, in-direct light and even moisture but not too much or they will drop their leaves. They are sensitive to temperature change and drafty areas. Extra humidity benefits this guy so use a humidifier or mist during the winter months. Fertilize with a nitrogen high fertilizer in the growing months and none in the winter. They are fairly fast growing so plan to repot young ones every spring when the temps are above 50 degrees. Once they reach maturity and become too large to repot, remove the top 2" of soil and replace every year. **Toxic to pets (leaves & sap)**
