Dieffenbachia can be fussy during the winter months as the cold temperatures and drafty locations will more than likely cause leaf drop. Misting/adding humidity and washing the leaves in winter can help prevent leaf drop. Water regularly in the growing season and sparingly in winter. Give Dieffenbachia a bright spot in the winter and if you move outside, afternoon shade will be perfect.
