Cryptanthus Bromeliads are most commonly known as earth stars. They are mostly grown for their interesting foliage but will produce a small white or pink flower. Like Bromeliads they will produce off shoots or "pups" before the mother plant will die after flowering once its lifespan. Place your earth star in bright, indirect light avoiding direct sunlight. Keep the soil moist but well draining and fertilize once a month with a balanced fertilizer at 1/2 strength. You can repot the "pups" in an organic potting mix to keep a collection of earth stars blooming! Safe for you and your pets!
