Snowflake Aloe (Aloe rauhii): The mother of many hybrids, Snowflake is emblematic of the mottled "mosaic" pattern sought by many Aloeenthusiasts. This green and white species tends to have thinner, more narrow leaves. It can tolerate low light conditions, though in bright sun it will flush violet to bronze. Snowflake Aloe stays nice and small in a pot but can develop into mounding clumps as it produces new offsets around its base. The offsets can be removed and transplanted or left to cluster. In winter or spring, the plant can send up a bloom stalk over a foot tall from which dangle coral, bell-shaped flowers that attract pollinators. 'Snowflake' can tolerate extended drought and should be planted in well-draining pots and soil to prevent rot. Water deeply, but only when the soil is completely dry. *Information from Mountain Crest Gardens*
